Eyes on the road (promise)
Note: Not the usual view from the driver’s seat. Last week was a little whiter and wilder than usual for those of us along Colorado’s Front Range.
This blog is a place where I, a marketing director with a 65 mile commute (each way), will collect notes from the many audiobooks and podcasts I consume during the more than 10 hours per week I spend in my Nissan Leaf Plus. And while that will no doubt constitute the largest portion of the content I include here, it won’t be all audiobook content. I’ll also be dropping a lot of notes and knowledge here from the reading I do in the mornings, nights and the occasional waiting room.
Some people like television. Me, I’ve always been a reader.
So why do this? It’s selfish. Like most of us, I need to write things down to truly retain the details of what I’m reading (er... listening to). That’s especially true when the book I’m devouring at 1.5x speed is a business or leadership title, or even a textbook.
So, that’s the origin story. I’ll be brief and try to be consistent. These won’t necessarily be reviews or even a tightly scripted accounting of each title. They’ll be a short recap with notes to reference in the future as I try to apply what I learn to the work I do or the life I lead. If you disagree with my take or desperately need an additional detail, please do drop me an email. If nothing else, the occasional question or critical item will keep me publishing. (Thanks in advance, trolls!)
Not sure you need to be taking notes yourself? Sorry, it’s a habit worth developing if you really want to make the most of the effort. Here’s some proof:
